Shoot me, man!
Shoot me, man! is a series of images taken in February 2018 around the townships of Soweto, Thokoza and Alexandra in Johannesburg, South Africa.

A call from the other side of the road: they are screaming at you.
'Your camera, hey ...shoot me, man!'
'It's a film camera' I reply, '...can't show you anything'
'No need, just shoot it already'.

Perhaps uninterested in what is reflected in the photographer’s mind, they call for a moment of existence to be exposed.
And here it is: the camera becomes a shared medium for both the photographer and the subject. In this context the image itself is a superfluous object: through posing and performing the photographic act is interpreted as an extension of the subject's voice.

'Shoot me, man!' is a call of urge and desire. It creates an immediate ground of communication, allowing for a photographic experience that is both unpredictable and unexpected.
